KAMADA is seeking a skilled Cook to join our Japanese restaurant team in Surrey Hills, VIC. This is a part-time position offering flexibility whilst being part of a dynamic culinary environment. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in maintaining the exceptional quality and authenticity of our Japanese cuisine, ensuring every dish meets our rigorous standards and delights our guests. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in Japanese culinary techniques whilst contributing to the success of our established restaurant.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook authentic Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and portion control across all menu items
Ensure all food preparation areas are kept clean, organised and compliant with food safety and hygiene regulations
Manage mise en place and stock rotation to ensure efficient service preparation
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support smooth service operations during busy periods
Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines
Respond to feedback from management and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards
Assist with food storage, inventory management and basic food ordering as required
What we're looking for
Proven experience working as a Cook in a professional kitchen, preferably with Japanese cuisine experience
Sound knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques, ingredients and flavour profiles
Strong food safety and hygiene awareness with understanding of food handling regulations
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure during busy service periods
Excellent organisational and time management skills
A collaborative approach to teamwork with strong communication skills
Physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks safely
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent quality standards
Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings and weekends as required
Desirable: Experience with sushi preparation or other specialist Japanese cooking techniques
