Buyer Manager

This is a fast-paced role for a company that brings to market a diverse range of products including everything from lawn mowers to outdoor furniture to BBQs to fitness equipment and kids toys.

As a Buyer Manager you will assume responsibility for bringing to market leading brands and product categories that are sold on several online channels.

This role is based at our Seven Hills office, you will be exposed to all things product related - from conception to commercialisation.

This role will offer you the opportunity to assist in managing the full product life cycle and assist in the NPD process. To succeed in this role, you will have experience in overseas sourcing, with a demonstrated ability in driving product development from concept through to launch in market. You must be analytical, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to influence across all levels.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Stay ahead of consumer and category trends, conducting category reviews to identify new products and suppliers to help grow our range, sales and profit

• New Product Development and sourcing as well as product reordering

• Manage and optimises the existing product range to improve performance and profitability

• Maintain in stock rate and control stock level for existing products range

• Create and Improve Products - Creating, suggesting and improving products that fill a niche in the market and allow the company to remain competitive. Make improvements to existing designs to enhance performance & cut down on manufacturing costs

To be successful in securing this role, you MUST have:

• Business level Mandarin proficiency is required for effective communication with suppliers and stakeholders

• At least 5 years experience in a fast paced dynamic product direct sourcing business environment with a background in the areas of automotive, industrial, electronic or technical categories, with technical or mechanical experience

• Industrial machinery experience is essential for understanding product specifications and manufacturing processes

• Understand in detail a wide range of Manufacturing processes, product design, packaging design and artwork processes.

• Have strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting

• Strong experience in a dynamic product management role

• Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation

• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, and Strong commercial acumen

• Efficiency and process obsessed. You love learning how things work and you're always looking for ways to innovate and improve

• People focus. You're naturally great at dealing with people; whether listening to customers, dealing with suppliers or working internally with our team

• Highly organized multitasker. You are able to deal with the demands of multiple workstreams simultaneously. Excellent time management, administration and organisational skills

• Motivated self starter with a can do attitude. You understand the impact of a highly satisfied, excited crew of users, and are slightly obsessive about grinding away at issues. You work well on your own without supervision

• Strong communication & interpersonal skills and ability to interact with internal and external partners with strong Negotiation skills

• Willingness to learn internal programs, systems and processes.

• Permanent resident of Australia, residing in Sydney

• Australian permanent residency is mandatory at the time of application
