Lutwyche Family Practice is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to lead our nursing service in a warm, independent and doctor-owned general practice.

This is a stable weekday role with no evening or weekend work. We are ideally seeking someone full-time, although permanent part-time hours may be considered for the right person. We understand that experienced nurses may have family, caring or other commitments, and we are open to discussing a practical arrangement that works for both you and the practice.

You will combine hands-on general practice nursing with genuine leadership responsibility. You will be trusted to guide our nursing team, strengthen chronic condition management and preventive care, and improve the systems that support safe, organised and consistent patient care.

You will work directly with our Practice Manager and two Principal GPs, who are present, approachable and actively involved in the practice. There are no unnecessary corporate layers. Your ideas will be heard, and you will have practical support to turn sensible improvements into action.

This is a hands-on role combining clinical nursing with day-to-day responsibility for the nursing service.

You will:

• lead, support and develop our small nursing team

• coordinate treatment-room systems, priorities and standards

• strengthen chronic condition management, health assessments, recalls and preventive care

• provide and coordinate immunisations, wound care, procedures and other general practice nursing

• oversee cold chain, infection prevention, emergency readiness, clinical stock and equipment

• contribute to accreditation, incident review and quality improvement

• improve nursing documentation, templates and workflows in Best Practice Premier

• help develop practical nurse-led and nurse-coordinated services

You will not be expected to arrive with every answer. We are looking for someone who can understand what is working, identify what needs attention and build improvements collaboratively and sustainably.

You may be a strong fit if you:

• are an experienced general practice or primary healthcare RN

• are ready to take genuine ownership of a nursing service

• enjoy supporting other nurses and creating clear, consistent standards

• have sound experience in chronic condition management, health assessments, immunisation, wound care and treatment-room nursing

• can work confidently and respectfully with GPs, reception and practice leadership

• are organised, clinically credible and comfortable raising concerns

• enjoy improving systems rather than continually working around recurring problems

You will also require:

• current unrestricted AHPRA registration

• immunisation qualifications appropriate for Queensland practice

• current CPR or Basic Life Support

• Australian working rights

Experience with Best Practice Premier is highly regarded.

We are an established, independently owned general practice caring for a loyal and diverse community.

Our team includes approximately eight part-time GPs, visiting specialists, allied health professionals, Registered Nurses and an experienced reception and administration team. We are large enough to offer variety and meaningful development opportunities, but small enough for people to know one another and work closely together.

We are located at HomeCo. Lutwyche, with convenient parking and easy access to supermarkets, cafés, pharmacy, retail and other health services.

$45–$50 per hour plus superannuation, depending on your general practice experience, leadership capability and the final agreed scope of the position.

The role is intended to be full-time across Monday to Friday. Permanent part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate, and we welcome a conversation about a practical, family-friendly arrangement.
