Level 5 $98,857 to $104,464 plus super

About this position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our Compliance team.
This role is pivotal in promoting and delivering a progressive and effective compliance service that meets the needs of the City and the expectations of our community.
In this role, you will
Investigate alleged regulatory breaches under the Planning and Development Act 2005, Building Act 2011, and other relevant legislation and local laws
Conduct private swimming pool and spa inspections to ensure compliance with prescribed standards
Provide accurate, timely, and customer-focused advice on compliance matters, upholding confidentiality and integrity in all interactions
Gather evidence and resolve issues through mediation, negotiation or legal processes
The salary range will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate
Ability to interpret and apply various legislation and compile reports with recommendations (Level 5) or highly developed ability to analyse, interpret and apply legislation to complex issues (Level 6)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders and the community
Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and ability to employ them
Competence in using IT systems and applications relevant to the role
Experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.
Essential requirements
Current driver’s licence
Current National Police Clearance (no older than three months). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition
Desirable requirements
Certificate IV in Government Investigations and/or relevant planning or building qualifications
Previous experience in compliance or investigative roles (Level 5) or significant experience in a compliance officer or higher-level position (Level 6)
