Community Grants & Partnership Officer

Our Community Grants and Programs Officer leads the annual review, implementation, administration, and evaluation of Council's Community Grants Program. You will ensure grant processes are equitable, accessible and compliant with Community Grant Policy and Guidelines.

This position engages and collaborates with different community organisations to build partnerships, and capacity building initiatives.  It also contributes to events and programs that enhance community participation and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Annually review and deliver all aspects of the Community Grants Program including Community Grants Policy, Guidelines, Grants Operating Manual, Assessment Manual, application forms, recommendations, funding agreements, distribution, and acquittal accountability processes.
• Proactively engage with grant recipients, monitor needs, and provide feedback and reports to management and / or Council relating to advocacy needs, risk exposures, and continuous improvement.
• Implement a range of equitable, accessible communication and engagement approaches in promoting grants.
• Participate in grant networks and actively monitor external grants programs to identify and recommend process and program improvements.
• Deliver an education program to diversify community grant applicants including distributing grant opportunities and assisting grant applicants and current recipients to identify and source alternate funding or revenue opportunities for sustainability and growth.
•  Support agreed community awareness raising programs, events and reports relating to Council strategies.
• Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain community partnerships and programs that build capacity and meet community need.
• Prepare relevant reports, agendas, minutes, and other administration.
• Convene and administer the Community Grants Assessment Panel.
• Update Council’s website information and promotional material relating to Community Grants.

Join us in this 12-month fixed-term parental leave role, offering a competitive salary range of $102,368.16- $110,865.56 plus 12% superannuation and a monthly accrued day off.

What you’ll need to succeed:

• A degree or diploma in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Community Services, Human Services, Social Planning or similar, is preferred, though lesser formal qualifications may be acceptable with equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated work experience in community development or similar, that showcases applicable skills and knowledge.
• Experience working in local government or not-for-profit sector is desirable.
• Proficient in use of Smarty Grants is desirable including an ability to instruct applicants in its use.
• Ability to make impactful decisions that significantly influence department outcomes by aligning actions with strategic objectives.
• Ability to efficiently manage resources within clearly defined objectives and budgets, ensuring optimal utilization and positive impact on the quality and cost-effectiveness of programs and projects, including planning, allocating, and monitoring resources appropriate to the role to meet organisational goals and standards.
• This role requires a currently and valid Working with Children’s Check and Drivers Licence.
