Junior Estimator

About the role

Onsite Group is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our growing team in Edgecliff NSW. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to launch your career in construction estimating. As a Junior Estimator, you will work alongside experienced professionals to develop your estimating skills, learn industry best practices, and contribute to the accurate pricing of construction projects. This role is fundamental to our business, as accurate estimates directly impact project profitability and client satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects using estimating software and industry-standard tools

• Analysing project drawings, specifications and tender documents to identify scope and requirements

• Researching and sourcing material and labour costs from suppliers and subcontractors

• Assisting in the compilation of tender submissions and bid documentation

• Communicating with project managers, architects and clients to clarify project details and specifications

• Maintaining accurate records and databases of historical cost data and estimating information

• Supporting the senior estimating team with project analysis and feasibility assessments

• Learning and applying company estimating procedures and methodologies

• Conducting site visits where necessary to gather information for estimates

What we're looking for

• A qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Building, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience

• Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail with the ability to work accurately with complex data

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• A genuine interest in the construction industry and a commitment to developing estimating expertise

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Familiarity with estimating software or building information modelling (BIM) is desirable

• A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

• Valid Australian driver's licence is preferred for site visits
