About Women & Children First 

Women & Children First provides safety and critical support services for women and children escaping domestic and family violence (DFV) and experiencing homelessness. Based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore, we have two refuges, over 25 transitional houses, a team of caseworkers and a suite of specialist support services, welcoming families from our local community, outlying areas, and interstate. 

Our work spans three pillars: 

• Refuge and Support – We provide safe and secure accommodation for families in crisis alongside specialist casework – ensuring we’re there every step of the way, from the moment they arrive through to long-term recovery. Our specialist DFV services include access to counselling, legal advice, financial support, help navigating family law and police reports, and a full range of supports tailored to each family’s situation. 
• Parenting and Family Support – Through our Family Support Services, we support the wellbeing, safety, and health of parents, carers, and children. Using evidence-based parenting programs and one-on-one support, our team strengthens family connections and provides practical and emotional support tailored to each family’s unique needs. 
• Prevention and Education – Our prevention program – Safer Together – brings education, awareness and real conversation to schools, sporting clubs, businesses, and community groups. We work to address the root causes of abuse and foster a culture of respect, equality, and upstander behaviour.  

About the role 

Reporting directly to the Head of Fundraising, this role sits at the heart of our fundraising function – providing the coordination, administration, and supporter care that keeps our campaigns, events, and communications running smoothly and our donors feeling loved. 

As the Fundraising Coordinator, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of our fundraising activity across every stream – from appeals and events to CRM management and digital communications. This is a role where attention to detail, warm relationship skills, and a love of getting things right will make a real difference to the women and children we support. 

Your work will span five key areas: 

• Supporter Experience – Managing day-to-day supporter communications with warmth and care, personalised acknowledgements, developing impact reports and ensuring every donor feels connected to the impact of their giving. 
• Appeals Coordination – Supporting the planning and delivery of key fundraising appeals (including our Christmas and tax appeals), coordinating campaign components across email, print, and digital channels, and ensuring all follow-up, data, and acknowledgements are captured accurately. 
• CRM & Data Management – Acting as the team’s CRM champion, maintaining accurate donor records, processing donations, issuing receipts, and ensuring our data is clean, reliable, and ready to inform decisions. You’ll also support the setup and maintenance of automated donor journeys for specific fundraising streams, ensuring supporters receive timely, relevant, and personalised communications at every stage. 
• Event Coordination – Supporting the end-to-end delivery of events, from logistics and guest management through to prize sourcing, on-the-day support, and post-event follow-up. 
• Communications & Digital – Helping maintain our website, supporting social media and email communications, and ensuring consistency in our brand and messaging across all channels. You’ll also manage enquiries that come through the website, triaging and directing them promptly to the right team members. 

To be considered for the position you must demonstrate that you: 

• Bring a minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in a fundraising, donor services, or supporter engagement role within the not-for-profit sector – with a track record of delivering, not just supporting. Or junior-level marketing or communications experience with a genuine desire to grow your career in the for-purpose sector. 
• Have solid experience coordinating events and managing projects, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities without things slipping through the cracks. 
• Are confident working with CRM systems and data, with a keen eye for detail and data integrity. 
• Have working knowledge of design tools such as Canva, marketing platforms, and Meta Business Suite for social media management and advertising. 
• Have familiarity with web content management systems (CMS) and basic digital tools. 
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills – with the ability to present information in a compelling and succinct way. 
• Bring warmth and genuine care to supporter relationships, understanding that great donor stewardship is central to fundraising success. 
• Can work both independently and collaboratively, taking initiative while keeping the broader team informed and supported. 
• Are passionate about the cause – driven by purpose and a desire to make a real difference for women and children. 

Highly regarded: 

• Knowledge of fundraising principles and the not-for-profit sector. 
• Experience building or managing automated donor journeys within a CRM.
