We now have an exciting opportunity for a casual staff member to join our small, dedicated, tight-knit environmental team working on specialised site across the north to north-west region of Melbourne. Led by our Environmental team leader, this position offers a great opportunity to grow and upskill in the environmental and conservation space.

Passionate about nature, open spaces and gardens? Do you think and live Green? Then this role might be for you, we are seeking a qualified Gardener to join our newly established environmental team across Melbourne!

In this position you will be autonomous in your day-to-day garden maintenance duties, supported by the Environmental Team leader and within a closely knit dedicated team, to provide regular environmental garden maintenance.

Our ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a love for caring for the environment to ensure our open spaces thrive and flourish. This position has a variety of responsibilities and the work is physical, therefore a good level of health and fitness is required, and the ability to manage your own time effectively with limited supervision.

As a valued and experienced Gardener you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• brush cutting

• hedging 

• weeding

• chemical spraying

• pruning

• planting

• litter collection

• mulching

• monitoring flora health, treating appropriately

• minor preventative maintenance on equipment and tools 

• general garden upkeep; keeping spaces clean and tidy

• assess each site, identify and communicate key tasks to action

• maintain adequate quality control to ensure no rework is required

• liaise with traffic and traffic management personnel

• coordinate and deliver quality services to contract specifications

To be successful in this position, candidates must have:

• 3+ years' experience a Gardener / Horticulturalist with a solid understanding of plant care techniques.

• Permanent Australian work rights is essential; visa sponsorship for this position is not offered at this time.

• White Card (Construction Induction Card).

• Valid Victorian Drivers License (P Plate or Full License).

• ACUP / Chem-cert or experience with Herbicide application.

Desired qualifications:

• Hold a Certificate III or above in Horticulture or Land Management (or similar).

• Traffic Management Certificate/s.

• First Aid Certificate - Level 2 Adult.
