We now have an exciting full-time opportunity for dedicated and passionate Gardener to join our City of Whittlesea Horticulture team.

Title: Gardener

Start & Finish Location: A valid Driver's License with owns means of transport is required for this position to start and finish each workday at our Epping Depot

Area of Work: This position is based in the City of Whittlesea Council, VIC

Employment Type: Full-time

Inclusions: Full PPE and a fortnightly phone allowance provided

The Ideal candidate will have gardening and horticulture experience with a keen eye for detail when it comes to performing programmed garden maintenance, ensuring all open space sites thrive and flourish year-round. We are looking for more enthusiastic and passionate employees to join our teams, who enjoy having a variety of horticultural responsibilities.

This position involves the use of technology to report daily achievements via company work applications so the candidate must be comfortable with the use of technology. Our Gardener positions offer physical outdoor work, so a good level of health and fitness is required to be successful in this position.

In addition to managing time effectively whilst on site, this position has supportive but limited in-person supervision so the ideal candidate must be comfortable with completing daily tasks autonomously, as outlined below.

As a valued Gardener you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• brush-cutting

• weeding

• chemical spraying

• planting

• mulching

• pruning

• hedging

• mowing

• litter pick up where required

• monitoring flora health and treating appropriately

• minor preventative maintenance on equipment and tools

To be successful in this position, candidates must have:

• Permanent Australian work rights (sponsorship is not available for this position)

• Qualification in Horticulture OR 2 years' minimum experience as a Gardener/Horticulturalist

• White Card (Construction Induction Card)

• Valid Victorian Driver's License (P Plate or Full License) as a minimum - to start and finish work at our Epping Depot. A Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence is an advantage

• Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions across all seasons

• A positive attitude, great work standards, and a dedicated mindset

Advantageous Qualifications/Experience:

• Zero-turn mower experience

• Towing trailer experience

• ACUP / Chemical Certification and experience with herbicide application

• Traffic Management Certificate/s

• First Aid Certificate
