Chef

VeiraMal Consulting is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our client’s kitchen team at Boss Babes Bake in Mount Lawley. Our client offers a great working environment and a rewarding opportunity for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of our burger and hot-food menu, while also contributing to menu development, food quality, stock control and the day-to-day coordination of kitchen operations.

Key Duties:

• Plan and develop burger and hot-food menu items in consultation with management.
• Organise and coordinate food preparation and cooking requirements for daily service.
• Prepare and cook burger proteins, grilled items, sauces, fillings, sides and other menu components.
• Establish and maintain recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Monitor the quality of food at all stages of preparation, cooking and service.
• Estimate food requirements and assist with food and labour cost control.
• Order meat, produce and other kitchen supplies and monitor stock levels.
• Manage food storage, stock rotation and wastage control.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during preparation and service periods.
• Demonstrate cooking methods, grill procedures and food preparation techniques to kitchen staff.
• Discuss food preparation, menu requirements and service issues with management and front-of-house staff.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, portioning and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, temperature-control and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Assist with the selection, training and development of kitchen staff where required.
• Contribute to the development of new burger varieties, sauces, sides and seasonal menu items.
• Maintain an organised, efficient and clean kitchen environment.

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef.
• Relevant Diploma-level hospitality/cookery qualification or equivalent relevant qualification and experience.
• Demonstrated experience in food preparation, cooking, menu development and kitchen operations.
• Experience preparing and cooking burgers, grilled food and other hot-food menu items is desirable.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate kitchen staff.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Good organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy hospitality environment.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required.

Full-time employment – 38 hours per week.

Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation.
