CHEF – FULL-TIME

Mystic Sands Sports & Wellness – Balgal Beach, QLD

Mystic Sands Sports & Wellness is seeking an experienced Chef to join our clubhouse hospitality team at Balgal Beach, North Queensland.

This is a full-time position responsible for food preparation, menu development and the day-to-day operation of our clubhouse kitchen, which provides meals and catering for members, guests, visitors, functions and community events.

The Chef will be responsible for:

• planning and developing menus in consultation with management;
• preparing and cooking meals to a consistent standard;
• estimating food and ingredient requirements and assisting with food cost control;
• monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation;
• preparing and supervising food for regular service, functions and events;
• managing food preparation and kitchen workflow during service;
• monitoring stock levels and ordering food and kitchen supplies;
• managing appropriate storage, stock rotation and minimisation of food waste;
• maintaining appropriate food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards;
• ensuring kitchen equipment and work areas are maintained appropriately;
• assisting with the selection and training of kitchen staff where required;
• coordinating with clubhouse staff to ensure efficient food service; and
• contributing to the ongoing development of the clubhouse's food and hospitality offering.

Skills and Experience

Applicants should have:

• relevant qualifications in commercial cookery or an equivalent field;
• demonstrated experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen;
• sound knowledge of food preparation, menu planning and food safety requirements;
• experience with stock control, ordering and kitchen operations;
• the ability to maintain quality and consistency during service;
• good organisational and time-management skills;
• the ability to work independently and as part of a small team; and
• availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

Mystic Sands Sports & Wellness operates a community-focused golf, sporting, hospitality and wellness facility at Balgal Beach, approximately 50 kilometres north of Townsville.

Our clubhouse provides food and hospitality services to members, visitors and the local community and hosts regular functions, events and social activities.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
