Accountant – Full Time

We’re looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team on the Gold Coast.

This is a full-time role for someone with 3+ years’ experience in Australian public practice who is ready to take ownership of their own client portfolio.

We’re not looking for someone to simply prepare jobs behind the scenes. You’ll have your own client list, deal directly with those clients and take responsibility for managing their work throughout the year.

You’ll still have plenty of support from our partners and senior team when you need it, but we’re looking for someone who is confident running their own jobs, communicating with clients and keeping things moving without needing to be closely managed.

Your client list will include a mix of individuals, companies, trusts, family groups and SMSFs across a range of industries.

Day to day, you’ll be:

• Preparing financial statements and income tax returns

• Preparing and reviewing BAS and other compliance work

• Managing your own jobs, deadlines and client information requests

• Communicating directly with your clients throughout the year

• Assisting clients with tax planning and general tax queries

• Liaising with the ATO when required

• Working with our partners on tax planning, structuring and more complex client matters

• Building genuine, long-term relationships with your clients

There’s a good mix of compliance and advisory work, and we want someone who enjoys understanding their clients and their businesses rather than just getting the job out the door.

You’ll need at least 3 years of experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm and a solid understanding of Australian tax and accounting.

Ideally, you’re already managing clients in your current role, or you’ve reached the point where you’re ready to step up and take on your own portfolio.

You’ll be comfortable speaking directly with clients, asking the right questions and taking ownership of getting a job from start to finish.

Experience with Xero, Xero Tax and Xero Practice Manager would be great, and CA/CPA qualifications (or currently studying towards them) are preferred.

We’re a close-knit accounting firm based on the Gold Coast with a broad client base ranging from individuals and family groups through to established businesses and larger corporate groups.

We work closely as a team and our accountants have direct access to the partners – there aren't layers of management to work through when you need to discuss something.
