Junior Product Developer - Homewares & Furniture

We are seeking a passionate and commercially minded Junior Product Developer to join the buying team of one of Australia's most desirable & well regarded Homewares businesses.

In this role, you will contribute to the creation and delivery of innovative, trend-led, and commercially successful homewares and furniture collections.
Working collaboratively with a talented product team, you will play an integral role in bringing products from concept to customer, ensuring quality, value, and brand integrity are maintained throughout the entire product development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and execution of seasonal homewares and furniture ranges that align with the brand vision and commercial objectives.
• Research competitor activity, consumer insights, and global home and lifestyle trends to identify opportunities and influence future product direction.
• Support product selection, pricing strategies, margin management, and sales performance analysis.
• Maintain accurate product information and data across all categories and systems.
• Coordinate the end-to-end product development process, from purchase order creation through to shipment sample approval, ensuring all critical path deadlines are achieved.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding product specifications, materials, finishes, sampling, costings, packaging requirements, and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Retail to ensure successful product launches and execution.
• Ensure all products meet brand standards for quality, compliance, performance, and customer expectations.
• Provide ongoing support to the broader Buying and Purchasing teams while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing culture.

About You

You are an organised and detail-oriented product professional who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and has a genuine passion for homewares and furniture.

To be successful in this role, you will have

• 2–3 years' experience in a Product Development role within the homewares, furniture, or broader retail industry.
• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Product Management, or a related discipline (highly regarded).
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• A keen interest in global homewares, furniture, and lifestyle trends.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with retail systems.
