Monash College is the principal pathway to Monash University. A wholly owned subsidiary and integral member of the ecosystem of Australia’s largest university, Monash College has helped students access a world-class Monash University education for over 30 years. The College equips students with the academic capability, confidence and skills required for a guaranteed entry to Monash University across all of its campuses, through a comprehensive suite of programs across the spectrum of the University’s areas of study. In addition to delivering transformative education and education experiences at its Melbourne central business district campus, as Australia’s largest pathway provider, Monash College also operates an extensive International Partner Network across the Asia-Pacific region.
About the role
Reporting to, and fostering a collaborative and transparent relationship with, the Monash College Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) holds full accountability for the leadership, performance and culture of the College. The CEO will oversee the development and implementation of organisational strategy with an unwavering focus on: providing the highest quality educational programs and pathways to Monash University; advancing alignment between the College and the University; growing revenue, and expanding and strengthening the offshore partner network; and preserving the College’s provider-of-choice status for international students. This includes not only working closely with the University, but also with University Faculties to expose students early to the University and to draw Faculties’ expertise into the College.
A steward of excellence in risk, governance, financial management, leadership and quality, the appointee will identify and oversee the implementation of opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness, and ensure adherence with relevant legislation, regulations and University policies.
With its people at the centre of Monash College, including educators and professional staff, providing visionary and values-driven leadership is critical to this role. This includes building on a culture of engagement, accountability, excellence and collaboration, and embedding student wellbeing as an organisational priority.
About you
You are an experienced executive with a genuine understanding of pathway or international education, and demonstrable track record of leading complex organisations to reach their full potential. You are equally adept at developing and delivering focused strategy that delivers sustainable growth, and at identifying scope for enhancing both operational effectiveness and quality. You are aware of current trends in the higher education sector and can identify opportunities for Monash College to complement the outcomes of the Monash Group. Your significant insights into international student attraction and building enduring international partnerships are complemented by your strong commercial and financial acumen, with demonstrated experience managing complex budgets.
Your governance credentials are well established with a contemporary understanding of risk and compliance management principles and frameworks, and the requirements of highly regulated sectors. Underpinning your ability to build deep and beneficial relationships are your credible, composed and engaging communication style, and well-honed influencing and negotiating skills.
Your relational approach and proficiency in navigate complex stakeholder environments is matched by your capacity to inspire substantial, diverse teams with clarity and purpose. You relish the prospect of applying your holistic leadership capabilities, and passion for quality and seeing students thrive, in this rare opportunity to lead Australia’s largest pathway provider.
