Part-time Medical Receptionist

About the role

Illawarra Ophthalmology is seeking a Part-time Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and professional team in Figtree and Corrimal, NSW. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, setting the tone for their experience at our clinic. You will play a vital role in ensuring our ophthalmology practice runs smoothly, managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records. This position is essential to the efficient operation of our clinic and directly contributes to our commitment to providing exceptional eye care services to our community.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients in a warm, professional and courteous manner upon arrival at the clinic

• Answer telephone enquiries and direct calls appropriately

• Schedule and confirm patient appointments using practice management systems

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in accordance with privacy legislation and clinic protocols

• Manage patient payments, process invoices and reconcile cash and card transactions

• Perform administrative tasks including filing, data entry, correspondence and general office organisation

• Assist with patient check-in procedures and ensure patients are directed to appropriate clinical areas promptly

• Handle patient enquiries regarding test results, prescriptions and follow-up appointments with professionalism and sensitivity

• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and comply with relevant health privacy regulation
