POSITION: Assistant Accountant Intern

OUR CLIENT OVERVIEW:

Our client is a leading travel agency based in Melbourne, VIC. It offers a wide range of travel services including flights, accommodation, tours, and more. 

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant Intern to join its team for a 3-month internship. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in the accounting and finance field, as well as exposure to the travel industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES (AS AN INTERN, PROVIDE ASSISTANCE IN):

-  day-to-day accounting tasks such as data entry, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations

- Helping prepare financial reports and statements

-  Budgeting and forecasting processes

- Supporting the finance team in month-end and year-end close processes

- Collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information

- Maintaining and updating financial records and documents

- Conducting research and analysis on financial data and present findings to the team

- Ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager

- Xero Accounting software and Excel

REQUIREMENTS:

- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles

- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Previous accounting or finance experience is a plus, but not required
