Junior Estimator - Civil Construction

We are looking for a Estimator to join our team and help us put together tenders for a wide range of civil construction projects.

You don't need to be a qualified engineer or an experienced estimator. If you have worked in construction, have good IT skills, an eye for detail and are keen to learn, we'd like to hear from you.

About the role

Working closely with our experienced estimating and management teams, you will help prepare tenders for projects including roads, subdivisions, earthworks, drainage, bridges and other civil infrastructure.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Reviewing plans, specifications and tender documents.

• Measuring quantities and putting together estimates.

• Obtaining prices from suppliers and subcontractors.

• Entering and checking pricing in our estimating systems.

• Helping prepare tender submissions and supporting documentation.

• Assisting with construction methodologies and tender programmes.

• Attending site inspections and tender briefings when required.

• Checking information carefully and identifying anything that doesn't look right.

• Working with the estimating and project teams to get tenders submitted on time.

You will be supported by experienced people within the business and given the opportunity to develop your estimating skills.

What we are looking for

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience working in the civil construction industry

• Is capable using Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new software.

• Has good attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right.

• Is organised and can work to deadlines.

• Has good communication skills and is comfortable speaking with suppliers, subcontractors and other members of the team.

• Is willing to learn and take direction.

• Has a positive, can-do attitude and is happy to get involved.

• Takes responsibility for their work and follows things through.
  

Previous estimating experience is an advantage, but not essential.

A civil engineering or construction qualification is also not essential. We are more interested in finding the right person with the right attitude who wants to build a career in estimating.

The person we're looking for

This role would suit someone who has worked in civil construction and is looking to take the next step in their career.

You might currently be working as a site administrator, project administrator, contracts administrator, quantity surveyor, or in another construction-related role and be looking for an opportunity to move into estimating.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is reliable, keen to learn, has an attention to detail and a great working attitude.
