Bella Baciata is a busy Italian street food venue in the heart of Sydney CBD, specialising in pizza by the slice and 'Baciatas'.

We are looking for an experienced Venue Manager / Head Pizza Chef to take a key leadership role in the business.

This is a highly hands-on position with a strong front-of-house and customer service focus. We are looking for someone who can confidently lead a busy service, engage with customers, manage and motivate staff, and maintain a great atmosphere in the venue — while also having strong pizza and kitchen skills.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Bella Baciata and will work closely with the owners to maintain high standards across food, service, staff and overall venue performance.

A major part of the role is being visible on the floor, interacting with customers and leading the team from the front. You should genuinely enjoy hospitality and understand that excellent customer service is just as important as producing great food.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the team and running smooth, organised services
• Delivering and maintaining an excellent customer experience
• Being highly present on the floor and engaging confidently with customers
• Setting the standard for friendly, professional and efficient service
• Handling customer feedback and resolving issues professionally
• Maintaining a positive, energetic and welcoming atmosphere in the venue
• Supervising staff across front of house, counter, coffee, kitchen and cleaning duties
• Training staff in customer service standards and ensuring those standards are consistently maintained
• Hands-on pizza production, including dough management, prep and service
• Maintaining food quality, consistency, speed and presentation
• Managing staff rosters and controlling labour costs
• Training, supervising and developing team members
• Reviewing timesheets and assisting with payroll preparation
• Managing stock levels, ordering, stocktakes, wastage and food costs
• Working with suppliers and helping control purchasing costs
• Maintaining food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
• Ensuring daily checklists, food safety records and operational procedures are completed
• Maintaining high standards of venue presentation and cleanliness
• Assisting with recruitment, onboarding and staff development
• Helping develop and improve menu items, recipes and operational systems
• Identifying problems and taking ownership of getting them resolved

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

• Has excellent customer service and people skills
• Genuinely enjoys interacting with customers and creating a great hospitality experience
• Is confident, personable and comfortable being highly visible front of house
• Has experience managing or supervising a busy hospitality venue
• Can lead a team during fast-paced service while remaining calm and professional
• Has strong pizza-making and kitchen experience
• Is a confident and positive team leader
• Understands rostering, labour costs and staff productivity
• Has good knowledge of food costs, stock control and wastage
• Is organised, reliable and takes ownership of their responsibilities
• Can communicate effectively with staff, customers, suppliers and management
• Is comfortable using POS, rostering, inventory and other hospitality systems
• Leads by example and isn't afraid to work alongside the team
• Wants to build something long-term rather than simply move from job to job
