Our client is a progressive, people-focused accounting firm based in Mackay, known for delivering high-quality taxation, accounting and advisory services to a diverse client base across multiple industries. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their expanding Business Advisory and Tax Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys client engagement, managing a portfolio of work and contributing to a high-performing team while mentoring junior staff. 

The Role: 

• Manage a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients, delivering end-to-end accounting and tax services 

• Prepare and review financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and related compliance obligations 

• Provide tax and business advisory support including structuring, planning and problem-solving 

• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor 

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and taxation legislation 

• Manage workflow, deadlines and job budgets effectively 

• Support and mentor junior accountants within the team 

• Contribute to continuous improvement and development of internal processes 

About You: 

• Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce or Business 

• CA or CPA qualified or working towards completion preferred 

• Experience in Australian public practice accounting 

• Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements 

• Confident communicator with strong client-facing experience 

• High attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills 

• Proactive, reliable and solutions-focused approach 

• Experience with Xero, MYOB or similar accounting systems advantageous
